Drake Materials manufactures, supplies, and distributes high-quality aggregate building materials throughout the southwestern United States. For over a decade, Drake Materials has provided products for multiple construction markets, including:
Our aggregate products range in size from rip-rap, where each stone may weigh several pounds, to washed sand for use in concrete and asphalt products.
Our diligent quality control and flexible processing plants ensure that a wide variety of products are available to meet the needs and specifications of almost any customer.
Aggregate materials are first mined out of the earth and then brought to the plant to be processed.
Once mined, aggregate material is then crushed to make crushed stone, gravel, and sand.
Once mined, aggregate material is then crushed to make crushed stone, gravel, and sand.
Aggregates must be relatively clean so the aggregate material is then washed to remove dirt, or any other matter by applying a heavy force of water to ensure high quality material.
Quality control then tests the material to ensure that it meets all specification in order to be used in construction materials.

Finally, the material is ready is for use and is distributed to customers in the use of construction.
Aggregate is the term for crushed stone, sand, and gravel manufactured for use in various construction applications. Production of these products requires mining and excavating raw materials, followed by progressive stages of crushing, screening, washing, and blending. Our aggregate products range in size from rip-rap, where each stone may weigh several pounds, to washed sand for use in concrete and asphalt products. Their intended use determines the numerous sizes and gradations, each complying with specifications established by governmental agencies, independent standards organizations like ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), or our customer’s requirements.
In Arizona, most construction aggregates and gravel resources are harvested from alluvial deposits along mostly dry river floodplains. Through a series of crushing, screening, and washing operations, aggregates are produced to manufacture ready mixed concrete, asphalt, precast concrete products, and for many other uses in various construction projects.
Our diligent quality control and flexible processing plants ensure that a wide variety of products are available to meet the needs and specifications of almost any customer.
Drake Materials’ quality control laboratory is staffed by some of the industry’s leading professionals and technicians. Our staff not only monitors our existing materials for quality and performance, but also supports industry-leading development of new products and production techniques. Quality is built into our core values through excellence.
